Amazing to think that 7-1/2 months have passed since we left our hosting position here near Pinedale, Wyoming at the end of last September! It has been a wonderful time of traveling, visiting and enjoying many adventures. Now we are back and settling in again. Really does feel like “home.”
During the past two weeks in Montana, we enjoyed good visits and saw beautiful country. Fun times with Becky & Dave at their summer campground, and a special time with son Brian and family!
So, we have now been here at “our campground” for a few days and have the campground open and ready for visitors. Working on campground projects… water is on and dump station open, and the kiosk is ready with information for visitors. And some projects for us… chairs and mats are out, utilities hooked up. The rhubarb patch looks good and we planted spinach and lettuce!
Looking forward to seeing those of you who have already said you will be stopping by and others that might add us as a stop on your travels… always ready for coffee or happy hour… maybe some rhubarb cobbler?
… and we’ll leave a light on :)
Be well, everyone! Dianne & Tom
Keep calm… it’s almost summer!

Our two weeks in Boise, Idaho flew by! We enjoyed good visits with my sister and brother-in-law and had many adventures. While there, in addition to the concert we attended upon arrival, we visited the old Idaho State Penitentiary, the Botanical Gardens, farmers markets, and the hot springs in Idaho City. We had some good road trips, great walks along the Greenbelt, and enjoyed meals and visits with Sherri and Ed. I am feeling particularly blessed to have had so much time with Sherri! (Photos below… Sherri with Tom, Sherri & Ed, and me and Sherri… just the best sister, ever :)
Near Arco, Idaho we marveled at Craters of the Moon National Monument! We stayed in this park for two days… climbed in caves and walked our legs off! Amazing and beautiful… such a remarkable place, and so different from anything we had seen before! I seldom use the word “awesome,” but this park is AWESOME! Photos don’t do it justice… worth a visit if you happen to be in the area!
Our next stop was Yellowstone National Park! We stayed in an rv park in West Yellowstone, Montana and did our sight seeing from there as no campgrounds are yet open in the Park. Such a beautiful place… it had been many years since our last visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed visiting again! Took way too many photos… here are some of our favorites :)
*** A NOTE OF WARNING FOR RV FRIENDS PLANNING TO VISIT YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK THIS SUMMER… BEWARE OF SEVEN MILES OF ROAD REPLACEMENT AND CONSTRUCTION BETWEEN NORRIS AND MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS! VERY ROUGH, SINGLE LANES WITH ESCORTS IN PLACES, AND DELAYS… WE WERE GLAD TO HAVE BEEN IN OUR CAR, AND RECOMMEND YOU SKIP THIS ROUTE IN AN RV THIS YEAR!
Our last stop before leaving the Yellowstone area was the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone, Montana… a not-for-profit wildlife park and educational facility. I struggle with viewing wild animals in captivity, but do now better understand the importance of providing such places as this for animals that have been orphaned or that have become a nuisance because of human behavior. This center opened to the public in 1993, and is home to eight grizzlies and six wolves. Their care, facilities, feeding and activities appear to carefully mimic life in the wild, as much as is possible. The facility also teaches people how to help prevent habits that jeopardize themselves and bears. And, the bears test bear-proof containers as part of their “entertainment” and food-searching activities! Very interesting and informative... ever expanding, and construction has begun on a River Otter/Riparian Habitat and a new bear exhibit and associated den building that will allow the Center to rescue additional bears!
Heading north soon for ten days of Montana stops and visits… some soaking at a hot springs, a couple days with Becky & Dave at “their summer campground” in Garrison, and time with our son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in Billings! Then on to Wyoming… the plan is to have Warren Bridge Campground open on Wednesday, May 13th! No more traveling and being tourists for us until the end of September… we look forward to breathing deeply, enjoying our peaceful summer home and seeing any of you that might get to our area!
Keeping good thoughts for each of you!
Be well, everyone! Dianne & Tom
“National parks and reserves are an integral aspect of intelligent use of natural resources. It is the course of wisdom to set aside an ample portion of our natural resources as national parks and reserves, thus ensuring that future generations may know the majesty of the earth as we know it today.” -- John F. Kennedy
