July 2013 – Family & Friends
July has been a month of [mostly] family and friends, with some excursions thrown in, as we enjoyed this month in Colorado. Grandsons Logan and Owen enjoyed their first trip in our motorhome, as we drove from their house to a nearby campground. They stayed over with us a couple of nights, went on some hikes (where Nell cooled in a stream),and hung out doing projects. Even watched patiently while Grampa aired up a low tire.
We parked in Kevin and Kirsten’s yard our final week at Vallecito Reservoir and continued to enjoy visits with them and the boys. One night, Tom and I went to Durango to meet friends with connections to Bitter Lake Refuge in Roswell, NM. The Refuge was where we first met “RV Buddies” Nancy and Dave when they volunteered there two years ago, and also where met Nancy and Bill Siders when Bill was active in the “Friends” group when Tom worked at the Refuge. Fun to get together while Nancy and Dave are here for awhile, and Nancy and Bill were passing through. We have also enjoyed drives to Silverton, went to a gem & mineral show in Durango, and fished and explored the area.
While in South Fork, CO we enjoyed a family camping get-together! It’s not often that we get this many us together, and it was a special time, though much too short! Thanks, Kayla, for the group photo!

We will be hanging out in the mountains near Creede, CO for the remainder of July, and attending a gem & mineral show there the first weekend in August. Tom is looking forward to a few more gem & mineral shows in southwest Colorado during August, and we will spend a bit of time in the San Luis Valley visiting friends and relatives there before moving on to a music festival in Pagosa Springs over Labor Day Weekend. Lots of relaxing, fishing, rockhounding is on the agenda!
Wishing you all well… thanks for “traveling along” with us! Keep in touch! Hugs, Dianne & Tom
